
In 2016, the icebreaker «Kapitan Khlebnikov», after a four-year break, will resume flights to make tourist expeditions to the Arctic, informs «Pacific Russia».
It is known that in the summer and autumn of next year will be held four flights. Starting from Anadyr (Russia, Chukotka) vessel, from July 12 to August 4, the Northern Sea Route will run along the Russian Arctic, and then from 4 to 24 August cruised around Greenland, from 22 August to 8 September will be held along the coast of Canada, and on September 22 again come to Anadyr.
While sailing tourists will visit Wrangel Island, the New Siberian Islands, Severnaya Zemlya, New Land, Franz Josef, Spitsbergen, Greenland and the Canadian Arctic.
The cost of participation in the voyage along the Russian Arctic, lasting 24 days, ranging from 30000 (triple cabin) and up to 52000 (corner suite) US dollars per person excluding transfers to the place of departure and arrival.
Prices of flights around Greenland and Canada are not sounded, and the cost of participation in the final route, duration 17 days departing from Canadian Resolute passes through the Beaufort and Chukchi with the arrival at the port of Anadyr, ranging from 21,000 to 36,000 dollars per person.
Icebreaker «Kapitan Khlebnikov» was built in Finland in 1981. The ship is named in honor of Captain Yuri Roerich polar Khlebnikov. Displacement of the vessel is 15,000 tons, length — 130 meters, width — 26.74 meters, draft — 8.5 m, depth — 12.3 meters. Icebreaker can reach a maximum speed of 19.1 knots (35.2 km / h), and cruising speed is 18 knots. The ship’s crew of 76 people.
After the construction of «Kapitan Khlebnikov» entered the fleet «FESCO», the port of Vladivostok. In 1990, the icebreaker was converted to commit Cruise tourism, and the first flight with passengers on board made in 1992. On board were equipped with six standard triple cabins, 42 standard double cabins, seven high-class cabins. The ship can carry 110 tourists.
In the 2000s, the ship worked, making flights to Antarctica (with taps to Argentina and New Zealand) and the Arctic, in November 2009, «Kapitan Khlebnikov» make cruises to Antarctica, stuck in the ice with 105 passengers on board. In November 2011, a final expedition passenger flight, after which the icebreaker was used on pilotage in the Far East ports.
