DPRK authorities want to increase the flow of Russian tourists

North Korea takes steps to increase the flow of Russian tourists to the country. This was announced by the head of the Propaganda Department of the State Administration of Tourism Kim Yong Il. In the past year, according to him, the People’s Republic visited about 200 tourists from the Russian Federation, so the Korean public administration pays great attention to the development of cooperation with Russia, enhance work in the travel market, informs «Pacific Russia».

«To make additions to the tourist programs, taking into account the wishes of the Russian side, they open up new interesting and convenient routes» — said Kim Yong Il. At the same time for the citizens of Russia, who decided to relax in the DPRK, simplified conditions for entry into the country, he said.

The representative of the state government reported that the DPRK «closely monitoring the trends in the Russian tourism market and develop cooperation with specialized organizations and agencies of the Russian Federation in the industry at all levels». «We know that now from Russia every year leaves about 40 million tourists, mainly in the Asian region», — said Kim Yong Il.

The first contacts in the field of tourism between North Korea and the Soviet Union were established immediately after the 1950-1953 Korean War. After the collapse of the Soviet Union the relationship between tour companies of the two countries fell sharply. «Currently, we are determined to ensure that on a reciprocal basis by the tourism industry to strengthen the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation existing between our countries and peoples». — said Kim Yong Il, who was quoted by TASS.
