Sberbank of Russia is planning a joint project with the Japanese acquiring international payment system JCB and China UnionPay in the second half of 2015. This was at the briefing said Director of bank cards and cash settlement services Sberbank of Russia Rostislav Yanykin. «With UnionPay, with JCB, probably, we will cooperate in terms of acquiring (payment by credit card organization in retail outlets). Perhaps, in the second half will be some movement in this direction. According to him, the current volume of issued «Sberbank» cards — 102 million pieces — «it’s almost the entire country, and the bank does not need to issue these (with Japanese and Chinese payment systems) cards».

Last year, the number of Russian banks announced the launch of joint co-branded cards with Asian payment systems against the background of failure Visa and MasterCard to work with some credit institutions of the Russian Federation after the introduction of sanctions, according to TASS.
