
Alexey Starichkov, the Head of the Department for International Cooperation and Tourism Development today, February 27, had a meeting with Lee Uk-Jae, the Director of the Directorate of the Province Administration of the Republic of Korea for International Cooperation, informs «Pacific Russia».
Alexey Starichkov noted two parties are bound not only by geographical proximity, but also by a similar understanding of regional development.
«Experts from both countries give a high rating to established cooperation, its strong potential and development perspectives. Our common task is to improve achieved results of cooperation – increasing a number of tourists, a growth of foreign trade volume and of investment cooperation, using of existing ferry lines and creation of new transport lines» – the Head of the Department told.
Lee Uk-Jae noted, that the Primorsky Territory is transforming to be a thriving region.
«In the Primorsky Territory a number of tourists including ours growing fast. It goes to prove that an attention of international society is concentrating on your region. I congratulate you on this event! The Territory is thriving» – the Director of the Directorate told.
Alexey Starichkov told about new directions of region development and about the opportunity to use an experience of the Gangwon Province.
«Today Primorye has a mind to create new high-tech industries and highly qualified workplaces. There territories of advanced economic growth, special economic zones will be created. A regulatory framework aimed to create attractive investment climate is forming now. We know that the Gangwon Province achieved great results in the same work» – Alexey Starichkov addressed to the Korean party.
The discussion was about tech-valley of medical equipment and tech-park which are working in the Wonju area of the Gangwon Province.
«We want to use this experience. In particular in benchmarking» – he added.
Lee Uk-Jae agreed that relations between Primorye and the Gangwon Province are productive and they need to be developed in future.
According to the opinion of the representative of the Republic of Korea the Visa Abolition Agreement which has force since the beginning of 2014 is the important factor of rapprochement of two countries. The productive effect for relations could be caused by ferry lines activization.
«The charter flight should be opened May 1 and will connect two international airports – Yang Yang and Vladivostok» — Lee Uk-Jae noted.
Resulting the meeting the parties signed the Plan for Co-operative Activities between the Primorsky Territory of the Russian Federation and the Gangwon Province of the Republic of Korea for 2014.
We remind that in October 2013 the Governor of the Primorsky Territory Vladimir Miklushevskiy opened 18th Summit for International Exchange and Cooperation of Regional Administrations of North-Eastern Asia Countries. During this event Heads of five regions including Primorye and the Gangwon Province signed the Joint Declaration.
