
Import of Chinese goods to Russia declined in the first quarter of this year by 34.5 percent yoy to 7.06 billion dollars, according to TASS, citing data from General Administration of Customs of China. With almost the same amount — 32.6 percent — and reduced the export to China of Russian goods, amounting to 7.35 billion dollars, informs «Pacific Russia».
The total turnover of the Sino-Russian trade in January-March 2015 fell by 33.6 percent compared to the first quarter of 2014 and amounted to 14.41 billion dollars.
According to China’s statistics agency, in March, the volume of Russian-Chinese trade amounted to 4.35 billion dollars, 2.88 billion dollars less than in March last year. At the same time, China exported to Russia goods worth 1.73 billion dollars, imported from Russia — to 2.62 billion dollars.
In 2014, the trade volume between the two countries increased by 6.8 percent — to 95.28 billion dollars.
In March, the head of the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his country aims to increase the volume of Russian-Chinese trade in 2015 to $ 100 billion. In particular, according to the minister, China is ready to sign an agreement this year on Russian gas supplies to western route and begin construction of the gas pipeline along the eastern route. Beijing also announced its readiness to cooperate with Russia in the creation of long-range wide-body aircraft and construction of high-speed rail, as well as in the field of nuclear energy and oil exploration.
In turn, the Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak said in May 2014 that Russia intends to increase trade with China up to 2020 by half — to $200 billion.
