In the DPRK on Friday, July 18, the reconstructed pier #3 of Rajin port will be formally opened. This project the North Korean party realizes together with the Russian, informs «Pacific Russia».
According to the Department of Industry and Transport of the Primorsky Territory, the first stage of the railway section «Khasan-Rajin reconstruction was finished last September. Since this time the cargoes were transported in a testing regime.
Now, due to the North Korean port pier opening, regular export cargos transportation starts through the territory of Primorye.
The reconstruction of the railway section «Khasan-Rajin» was started in October 2008. The project includes several parts. It is a reconstruction of the railway infrastructure objects from station «Khasan» in Primorye to port «Rajin» in the territory of the DPRK, and also a construction of transloading terminal in port «Rajin».
A reconstruction of 18 bridges and 12 pipe-culverts is already finished in this section. This work was performed by JSC «RZDSTROY». Also reconstruction works of bridge «Frienship» from state border of Russia to the territory of the DPRK are finished.
In the Department it was also noted that the realization of the project will allow to attract over 4 million tones of additional bulk cargoes per a year to the border-crossing point «Khasan-Tumangan» (Primorye) and 100 thousand containers annually.
In perspective it will allow to send the most part of cargos flow from South Korea to Russia, Europe and CIS and in opposite direction, by the Trans-Siberian railway.
We remind that transport and logistics sphere is one of the most prioritized for the development of the Primorsky Territory. According to Vladimir Miklushevskiy, unfreezing ports and transport corridors «Primorye-1» and «Primorye-2» – is the significant advantage of the region, which shall be used for the development of the economy of the Territory.
