International Competition for Young Musicians «Music Vladivostok» was launched

VIII International competition for young musicians «Musical Vladivostok» was launched in the regional center of Primorye. It is held on the basis of the Far Eastern State Academy of Arts, Primorsky Puppet Theater, the Pushkin Theater Far Eastern Federal University. Participants of the contest — more than 350 people from Russia (almost all subjects of the Far East, as well as Moscow, Kazan, Chita, Petrozavodsk), South Korea, Japan and China, the youngest of whom nine years. The age limit to participate in the «Musical Vladivostok» — 28 years. Traditionally, competition is conducted in all major performing skills that are taught in the music secondary and higher educational institutions, informs «Pacific Russia».

Recall that before the 1999 competition «Musical Vladivostok» was held at the regional level, and in 2003 received its current name.

The jury of the festival included Honored culture, laureates of international competitions and festivals, composers, professors from Russia, Japan, China, Israel. Among them, the People’s Artist of Russia, Professor, Head of woodwind and percussion instruments of the Moscow State Conservatory. PI Tchaikovsky (Moscow), Valery Popov, who is chairman of the jury, Honored Artist of Russia, Professor, Head of the solo singing of the Russian Academy of Music. Gnesinyh (Moscow) Michael Agin, violinist, Honored Artist of Russia, Professor Rubin Music Academy in Tel Aviv (Israel) Yaroshevich Simon, professor of the Beijing Conservatory (China) Liu Man, Tokyo Conservatory teacher, winner of international competitions, soloist of the Tokyo Chamber Opera Theatre (Japan) Asami Kurosawa, professor, head of the string department of folk instruments of the Russian Academy of Music. Gnesinyh (Moscow) Andrey Gorbachev (balalaika), Honored Artist of Russia, Professor, Head of the Piano Chelyabinsk State Academy of Culture and Arts Evgeny Levitan, a former head of the department of folk instruments Peter Herter (Germany, accordion) and Zhang Hym Bae (South Korea, guitar).

The contest is held in the following specialties: piano, stringed instruments (violin, cello, viola, double bass), wind and percussion instruments, vocal, choral conducting, folk instruments (accordion, balalaika, domra, guitar). In addition, the position allowed and speeches ensembles (vocal, piano and folk instruments). The competition is held in two rounds, the second of them usually no more than half of the participants. The most popular among the contestants turned «Wind and percussion instruments» (80 people), 60 people will fight for victory in the category of folk instruments, 50 — Strings, 30 — vocal and piano lines and 15 — in choral conducting.

As the members of the jury, many of whom had previously worked in FESAOA or otherwise cooperate with the university, to return to Vladivostok is always very pleasant. According to them, in the world today there are plenty of international music competitions, but the fact that it is carried out in Vladivostok for the past many years, speaks about its viability and high demand. In addition, experts say such a feature seaside competition as its broad direction for the victory after struggling musicians here, representing all of the major performing specialty taught in schools and universities, and it allows them to thrive in a competitive environment, and so inherent in the profession of musician. In particular, the Russian professors say that the very strong Chinese musicians and they make a great competition.

Honored musicians note that concerts, master classes and participate in the competition jury in Siberia and the Far East invariably gives them new strength. According to them, the audience here is more responsive than in the central part of the country, which is overrun with universities and musical events.

Already during the opening concert of the competition jury chairman Valery Popov said that he and his colleagues will have a difficult job, because there is no accurate tools to determine the winners in one category or another, but, despite this, the young musicians have the opportunity to once again compete for awards if something does not turn out in the coming days. Semen Yaroshevich remembered 1962, when he first stood on the stage FESAOA. He expressed hope that the new generation will help in the preservation of musical culture in the Far East. Peter Herter said that it was in FESAOA he was really a professional musician. According to him, music is a lot that goes against the competition. Known accordionist encouraged younger colleagues to act in the competition as they would have played at the concert.

April 2 in Vladivostok in the contest will be listening to pianists, violinists, violists and cellists.
